The Caribbean Islands are always known as one of the most beautiful Destinations in the world. You always see islands like the bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, and Nassau of how out of the world they are. Learning about these Islands really made me want to be able to visit them when I am older. Seeing how many different cultures collide but also seem so alike really interested me when learning about the Islands. From history class back in highschool I know the Islands were colonized by many other countries but I did not know the Nether Lands conquered Parts of the islands before. Also I learned that the islands are very diverse just like here in California. I found that really interesting because even though the islands were so close to each other it was a really diverse community.

For immigration, Cubans usually moved to Florida because of the similar climate. Also for Cubans, Miami was so close to Cuba it was the best choice for them. Many of citizens of Cuba left because of political reasons like Castro overthrowing the government. I knew before that a lot of Cubans migrated to Miami because whenever I watched food travel shows I see how the Cuban culture has a big influence in Miami.  I also learned that that many Puerto Ricans reside in New York City. ALso Haitians and Jamaicans primarily resided in North Florida.

Foods between South American and the Caribbean Islands have similar roots. Both have rice as one of their main foods. It really surprises me that rice is so popular around the world because I would always think Asians would be one of the only races to be eating rice. Their spices they use are also similar flavors like having strong, spicy flavor recipes. All around I was not sure how similar these countries were with each other because of how trading and colonizing effects these countries. It was really cool learning new things about these countries and to visit and learn more about their cultures would be an amazing opportunity
